Actor Robin Padilla will join Army reserves

Actor Robin Padilla will join Philippine Army reserve force, a military spokesman said on Monday.
"Robin Padilla volunteered to join the Army Reserve Component and has met all the qualifications and requirements," said Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala, Philipine Army spokesman, Monday.
"The Philippine Army opens its doors to people like Robin Padilla who volunteers to serve the country," he said.
Zagala said although Padilla was jailed, the actor was not convicted due to "moral turpitude."
"He has been granted an absolute pardon by President Rodrigo Duterte which fully restored his political and civil rights," he said.
Zagala added that Padilla can help the military in promoting peace in Southern Philippines.
"As a devout follower of Islam, he can readily connect with the youth in advocating peace and inspire them to contribute in the peace building and development in Mindanao, as well to help in preventing violent extremism," he said.
"His story is an inspiration to those who once lived a troubled life, that they have the chance to start over and restore their lives," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
