Adjudication process for 299 cops said linked to drugs may start Thursday: Gamboa
February 12, 2020
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa said the adjudication process for the 299 cops allegedly involved in the illegal drugs may begin Thursday.
Gamboa said out of the 357 policemen who allegedly involved in illegal drugs, 15 have chosen optional retirement while 43 have gone absent without leave (AWOL).
"Probably tomorrow the regional adjudication boards will start," he said.
Gamboa said those who choose optional retirement and those who went on AWOL will no longer have to undergo adjudication.
"Remember when we issued the orders that they are assigned at the office of the chief PNP and their respective units are informed, that is enough notice for them to report but if they failed to report then we will charge them separately 43 (of them)," he said.
"There are 43 (of them) my instructions are to already precharge them," said Gamboa.
"That is why those who will be adjudicated has decreased because ( of the) 15 plus 43 who are already marked AWOL, the remaining ( 309) are those who we will try in the adjucation board," he added.
Gamboa also reminded the other policemen allegedly involved in the illegal drugs they will no longer allow to avail the optional retirement when the adjudication process begin.
"Our purpose why we offered optional retirement is to make it easy for the PNP but once the process starts then we will not accept optional retirement," he said.
"Once the adjudication starts, we will not extend that kindness anymore," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
