July 31, 2019
Peter Joemel Advinula, who claims he is “Bikoy”, was released from the Philippine National Police- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group custody on Wednesday after posting bail.
In a text message to The Daily Manila Shimbun, CIDG- National Capital Regio Field Unit chief Police Lt. Colonel Tomas Ibay said Advincula was released from their custody around 3:20 pm.
“He already posted his bail. He left around 3:20 pm,” Ibay said.
In an order released by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 220, it said Advincula posted P10,000 bail.
Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, said the CIDG-NCRFU received the order of release around 2:45 pm.
Advincula, who voluntarily surrendered last July 29 at about 7pm, was brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory for medical examination prior to his release.
''Bikoy has been released from CIDG custody at 3:20 pm and was received by his brother, Joseph Advincula,” Banac said in a statement.
Advincula surrendered for the second time at CIDG for a cyberlibel case filed by a businessman whom he accused of being involved in illegal drugs in a video.
He first surrendered to the authority after he revealed himself as “Bikoy” or the person behind the videos posted online claiming President Rodrigo Duterte and persons close to him are involved in illegal drugs.
Advincula retracted his statement and pointed at the Liberal Party and other members of the opposition, claiming they ordered him to say those information.
Vice President Leni Robredo and other personalities mentioned by him are now facing sedition charges at the Department of Justice after the PNP-CIDG filed a complaint against them. Ella Dionisio/DMS
