Albayalde said PNP follows court on how long De Lima can stay with mother
August 15, 2019
Police General Oscar Albayalde on Thursday said it is the court who decide how long can Senator Leila De Lima stay in her province to visit her ailing mother.
De Lima, who has been detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center since February 2017, left this morning for Iriga City after the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court allowed her to visit her mother.
A member of De Lima's camp said the senator left Ninoy Aquino International Airport at around 4:30 a.m. and arrived in Legazpi City at around 6:25 am.
De Lima is supposed to stay in their home for only eight hours.
''It's a court order so we are not the one who said how many hours should be given to her. It’s the court’s decision,” he said.
He assured De Lima of “full protection” while she is away from the PNP-Custodial Center.
“The Headquarters Support Service, Police Security and Protection Group and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group will be the ones to take care of her,” he said.
“I think she is already in Bicol. She was already escorted with full protection from the PNP,” Albayalde added.
He said De Lima’s security will be with her until she returned back to the headquarters. Ella Dionisio
