Albayalde says PNP did not brainwash parents of children who joined Anakbayan

The head of the Philippine National Police ( PNP) debunked the claim of Anakbayan group that it is the police who are brainwashing parents of five teenagers who allegedly went missing after joined the militant group.
In an interview, Police General Oscar Albayalde said: “We did not brainwash them, they went to us to file a case just like any ordinary citizen.”
He said anyone who will go to their office will be given police assistance if they need it.
The PNP confirmed that the parents of the missing children went to Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to seek assistance in filing a complaint against the Anakbayan group.
Meanwhile, on the fears of children to come out in the public because of security threats, Albayalde said they are open to engage with them.
“This is the very reason why we are open to engage with these children,” he said.
“In fact we are even offering to go to different universities,” he added.
The PNP chief questioned students from state-owned universities for joining groups which are against the government.
“This is what we question. What kind of attitude is that? The government is the one who gives you free education so that in time you will be useful or have good job or even become an elected official who can change the country,” he said.
Albayalde said while activism is part of a democratic process, the methods of groups who are against the government is “wrong”.
On Monday, Anakbayan presented five teenagers who joined the group and denied that they brainwashed them.
They also claimed the PNP is the one brainwashing the children's parents. Ella Dionisio/DMS
