Albayalde welcomes teachers, nurses joining PNP

August 12, 2019

The head of the Philippine National Police ( PNP) welcomed teachers and nurses applying to join them as they have  to fill a 10,000 recruitment quota this year.

In a radio interview on Monday, Albayalde said he is in favor of nurses and teachers joining the PNP as they can be of great help

“Actually it’s good because sometimes we need to help a lot of people. The training of nurses to become police is just the same. Even teachers since we have a program 'Teacher ko, Pulis ko' (My teacher, my police),” he said.

Albayalde said after policemen's salary were doubled, the salary for an entry level policeman or patrolman can reach up to P34,000 to P36,000, including  allowances.

“The basic pay is around P28,000 because the (previous) P14,000 was doubled,” he said.

He said this will help them as they have a huge recruitment quota.

“Just like now, the president ordered us to provide additional five SAF (Special Action Force) battalions,” he said.

For one battalion, Albayalde said they need around 4,000 to 5,000 officers  besides their 10,000 quota for the year.

“The SAF has their own recruitment because we know the training of SAF is harder. That’s why the priority (of recruits) should come in the province,” he said.

Albayalde said recruitment for SAF troopers will be as soon as possible.

According to a lawmaker, some newly-board passer nurses and teachers are entering the PNP because of its high salary compared to their own profession. Ella Dionisio/DMS
