Allegations of Trillanes on Duterte’s alleged wealth ”undeserving of a response”: Panelo
June 11, 2019
Malacanang on Monday said allegations of outgoing Senator Antonio Trillanes IV that President Rodrigo Duterte may own billions of pesos from illegal drugs is “undeserving of a response”.
“He has been saying that president has (hidden) wealth. He has been maliciously imputing that to the president and he has not submitted any proof on that,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a press briefing.
In a separate press conference, Trillanes said he received bank documents from two companions of Peter Joemel Advincula alias Bikoy.
He said he submitted it to seven foreign-owned financial intelligence units which can determine if the bank details are genuine.
“If these (bank accounts) will not be found, then its trash. Once validated we can determine which part (of Advincula’s allegation) is true,” said Trillanes.
According to Advincula’s allegations which he narrated in his videos posted online, these bank accounts are owned by the Duterte family.
Trillanes said the accounts came from different institutions amounting between five to eight billion pesos.
“Once his (Duterte) term ends, truth will be revealed. A plunder case is waiting for him,” he said.
He added once this is confirmed, foreign media will report the FIU findings.
On Trillanes latest presentation of evidence, Panelo jokingly said maybe he and Bikoy are both “telling the truth”.
“Bikoy has his own version of text messages which he showed during the press conference. In other words, it’s his word against Bikoy,” said Panelo.
Trillanes presented an exchange of text messages between Advincula and the priest who kept him safe and a video which he said will prove the opposition is not planning to oust Duterte. Ella Dionisio/DMS
