Alleged NPA killed in Masbate

An alleged member of New People's Army (NPA) was killed in five-minute clash with government troops in Masbate on Friday.
Capt. John Paul Belleza, public affairs officer of the 9th Infantry Division, said the encounter happened at the vicinity of Barangay Calumpang, Placer town around 2:50 pm.
"Joint elements of 2nd Infantry Battalion (2IB) and PNP ( Philippine National Police) were conducting hot pursuit operations, following the recovery of explosives in the nearby barangay of Dangpanan, when the clash broke out," he said.
Belleza said the alleged NPA has yet to be identified while no one was hurt in the government side.
Troops recovered an M16 rifle at the encounter site.
