”Ambo”, slightly weakened, forecast 50 kms near Metro Manila between 8 to 10: Pagasa

Typhoon ''Ambo'' slightly weakened as it made landfall six times since Thursday night as it heads towards the Northern Quezon-Laguna area.



With winds of 125 kph and gusts of 165, ''Ambo'' is also expected to be near Metro Manila between 8 to 10 tonight, said weather specialist Chris Perez in a televised briefing Friday.



On Thursday, "Ambo'' packed winds of 155 kph and gusts of up to 255 kph.



''We are expecting that possibly between 8 to 10 tonight the location of Ambo is roughly  50 kilometers of Metro Manila between 8 to 10 pm,'' said Perez.



Metro Manila and areas in southern, central and northern Luzon are under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number Two.



''Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Bicol Region, Quezon, Aurora, Marinduque, Laguna, Rizal, Metro Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino,'' said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and  Astronomical Services Administration ( Pagasa) in its 10 am bulletin.



At 10 am, Pagasa said the eye of ''Ambo'' was located in the vicinity of Catanauan, Quezon where it is moving northwest at 20 kilometers per hour.



''The eyewall region of Typhoon Ambo is bringing destructive winds and heavy to intense rainfall over the northern portion Bondoc Peninsula in Southern Quezon,'' said Pagasa's 11 am bulletin.



Areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number Three are: Quezon including Polillo Island, Rizal, Laguna, the southern portion of Aurora (Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, Baler, San Luis, Dingalan), the southern portion of Nueva Ecija (Licab, Quezon, Santo Domingo, Talavera, Llanera, Rizal,Bongabon, General Mamerto Natividad, Aliaga, Zaragoza, San Antonio, Jaen, Santa Rosa, Cabanatuan, Palayan, Laur, Gabaldon, Peñaranda, San Leonardo, Cabiao, San Isidro, Gapan, General Tinio), the eastern portion of Bulacan (San Miguel, San Ildefonso, Dona Remedios Trinidad, San Rafael, Angat, Norzagaray, San Jose Del Monte), the western portion of Camarines Norte (Santa Elena, Capalonga, Jose Panganiban, Paracale, Labo), the extreme western portion of Camarines Sur (Del Gallego, Ragay, Lupi, Sipocot, Libmanan, Cabusao, Pasacao, Pamplona), and Marinduque.
