Anti-red tape body to file complaint vs governor; raps filing to be done every week
October 16, 2019
The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) is set to file a complaint against a governor for allegedly failing to render government services within the prescribed processing time.
In a press briefing in Malacanang, ARTA Director General Jeremiah Belgica refused to name the governor, who would be charged before the Office of the Ombudsman on Thursday.
"So this governor violated the processing time and also the zero contact policy," he said.
Failure to render government services within the prescribed processing time on any application or request without due cause is a violation of Section 21 of Republic Act No. 11032 or the "Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018."
The new law gives ARTA more teeth in pursuing anti-red tape cases.
Belgica said that his office intends to file complaints every week against erring government officials.
On October 7, ARTA filed a complaint against Mayor Lester De Sagun of San Nicolas, Batangas for allegedly violating the Local Government Code and RA 11032. Celerina Monte/DMS
