April 24, 2019

The Philippine Army assures loyalty to President Rodrigo Duterte and to the constitution after Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding chairman Jose Maria Sison claims there is a growing dissatisfaction within the military and police.

"The Philippine Army is already very professional and we are loyal not only to the commander in chief but also to the constitution," said Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala, Philippine Army spokesman, said Wednesday.

"The Philippine Army is a professional organization whose men and women are loyal to the constitution and the duly-elected government," he noted.

"We do not allow military adventurism to prosper as we adhere to our mandate of protecting the country's democratic way of life and its institutions. We are and will always remain non-partisan as we accomplish our mission to serve the people and secure the land," he added.

The Philippine Army with a total strength of more than 97,000 has the biggest number of personnel in the military.

Recently, Sison in his Facebook post claims that “the end of Duterte is near in view of the growing dissatisfaction within the AFP and PNP.”

“The officers and men are just waiting for the big mass protests to arise in the cities of the national capital region and the provinces,” he added.

On the other hand a matrix called "Oust Duterte" that links journalists on the ouster plot was published in a newspaper.

On Monday, Malacañang said the published matrix came from Duterte. Robina Asido/DMS
