The Philippine Army recognized a Scout Ranger team's silver medal during the Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2019 in Wales, United Kingdom.
Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala, Philippine Army spokesman, said a Scout Ranger team is among the "140 international military teams that participated in the event from Oct. 14 to 16."
"The rangers were able to successfully execute various military operations in the Cambrian Mountains despite extreme weather and terrain conditions," he said.
Zagala said the Army Cyber Defense team was also "awarded the 'Best Defense Team' after being hailed as the overall champion in the cyber defense exercise category of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Joint Exercise Dagat-Langit-Lupa last Sept. 16 to 27."
"The Philippine Army Cyber Team's prowess was put to test as they performed capabilities in protecting, detecting and responding to cyber-attacks", he said.
Zagala said the Scout Ranger team and Cyber Defense team were recognized in a ceremony led by Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto on Monday.
“The accomplishments of the Scout Ranger Team and the PA Cyber Defense Team are affirmations that we are on track and on target along our journey of transformation,” Alberto said.
“Be it on the frontlines on the ground or in cyberspace, the Philippine Army will continue to innovate and level up. This definitely means that we are reaching our goal of becoming a world-class Army, ” he added. Robina Asido/DMS
