Authorities arrest two alleged NPAs in Negros Occidental

Authorities arrested two alleged New People’s Army (NPA) officials in law enforcement operation in Negros Occidental last Friday, a military official said Monday.

Capt. Cenon Pancito, public affairs chief of the 3rd Infantry Division,  said arrested were Maria Lindy Balaobao Perucho, deputy secretary for finance of Northern Negros Front, Komiteng Rehiyon- Negros, Cebu, Bohol and Siquijor (KR-NCBS) and Imelda Pasinabo Sultan, deputy secretary for finance of the KR-NCBS.

He said the Peace, Law Enforcement and Development Support Cluster of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict 6 through the police and military arrested the alleged rebels in Escalante City.

Pancito said during implementation of a search warrant Perucho was captured at Sitio Gaway-gaway, Barangay Jonob-jonob while Sultan was arrested in Barangay Balintawak.

“Recovered from Perucho were 45 caliber pistol with ammunition, 38 caliber, and three 40 mm grenade launcher ammunition... war items that include three caliber 45 pistol with 17 live ammunition, seven grenade launcher ammunition, two Claymore type anti-personnel mines, three cellphones, state forces uniforms, and subversive documents were seized from Sultan,” he said.

“The recovered uniforms attested the revelation of Ka Joross, a former rebel, that the CPP-NPA (Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army) terrorists are using uniforms of state forces as disguise especially in conducting tactical offensives,” he added. Robina Asido/DMS
