Authorities seize one kilo of shabu in Mandaluyong

June 18, 2019

Authorities on Monday seized one kilo of shabu worth P6.8 million at Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong.

According to a report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), a buy-bust operation was conducted along Shaw Boulevard around 11:25 pm which resulted in the arrest of three persons.

Police said the suspects were Raihana Pontino, Aliola Sultan, and Jassir Panggaga. The suspects are alleged members of syndicated criminal gang which is related to a Muslim group led by Ahmin Buratong, who was sentenced for illegal drug trafficking.

The suspects were said to be responsible for some illegal drug trades in Pasig City.

Confiscated were five plastic items containing 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P80,000 and 10 pieces of plastic pack of alleged 50 grams of shabu.

An additional P800,000 worth of buy-bust money and one vehicle used to deliver illegal drugs were also recovered.

Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, the NCRPO chief, said Pontino had been nabbed due to possession of illegal drugs but was able to post bail.

"We believe that the arrest of the Ahmin Buratong Group, particularly the female suspect who works with them, signifies the huge reduction of their network in Metro Manila," he said.

The suspects will face separate cases for violation of Sections 5, 11 in relation to the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

"(W)e have to pursue our investigation and find out their suppliers and the group's other buyers," Eleazar added. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
