March 3, 2020
LA TRINIDAD -- The Mankayan town government and stakeholders have reset their town fiesta on March 9-15 to April 20-26 amid the continuing the COVID-19 issue.
Mankayan Mayor Frenzel Ayong said members of the municipal council, department heads of the local government, barangay officials, representatives from the education department, community leaders, among others, reached a consensus to re-schedule the town fiesta.
The rescheduling, officials said, will allow the COVID-19 scare to wane.
“We reached a collective decision to reset the activities prepared for our town fiesta to allow us the time to assess the situation of the COVID scare that continuous to prevail in our country. We hope the situation will start to stabilize in the next few weeks so we can plan our future strategies,” Ayong stressed.
Mankayan is the site of the oldest and largest gold and copper mining firm in the country, Lepanto Consolidated Mining Co. DMS
