BFP says no fires caused by firecrackers during New Year

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said there were no firecracker-related fire incidents during New Year celebration.
In a press conference on Wednesday, BFP Spokesperson Gerrandie Agonos said the campaign for zero fire incident caused by firecracker or fireworks was successful.
Agonos attributed it to the cooperation of the citizens on using only legal fireworks on assigned community fireworks display areas.
"During the eve of December 31 to January 1 when people were welcoming the new year, the reported fire incidents dropped from 52 cases last year to only 31 this year," he announced.
"According to data collected for the whole month from December 1 to 31, fire incidents decreased. It dropped by 24 percent compared last year," he added.
The spokesperson said the BFP will continue to work with the Department of Health (DOH) and Philippine National Police (PNP) in strengthening the campaign against the use of illegal and legal firecrackers and fireworks. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
