ZAMBOANGA CITY - An improvised explosive device bomb exploded in front of the home of a Sulu town mayor here early morning, officials said.
Capt. Edwin Duco, Zamboanga City Police Office information officer, said the explosion took place after 4 a.m. at the compound of Mayor Asri Taib of Pangutaran, Sulu in Bienvenido Drive, Barangay Canelary.
Duco said no one was killed or injured. Glass windows and windshield of a sports utility vehicle, owned by the family of Taib, were damaged.
Col. Antonio John Divinagracia, Task Force Zamboanga commander, ruled out terrorism.
Duco concurred with Divinagracia, saying politics is hotly contested in Pangutaran, Sulu.
“This is a low intensity type of explosive,” said Divinagracia. DMS
