BuCor to get police list of erring Bilibid personnel and inmates in drug list

The Quad-Intel Force of the National Capital Region Police Office ( NCRPO) on Tuesday said they will give the Bureau of Corrections ( BuCor) list of names of erring Bilibid personnel and inmates included in their drug watchlist.

In a statement, the NCR's Quad-Intel Force will give BuCor Director General Gerald Bantag the names of its personnel who are involved in the operations of convicted drug lords and inmates on the drug list inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

NCRPO chief, Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, said names of the BuCor personnel and NBP inmates are based on the information and intelligence reports that the four members of the Quad-Intel Force possess.

“This is the help of the Quad-Intel Force on the massive reform of Director General Bantag at NBP. If these inmates will continue their operation inside Bilibid with the help of corrupt personnel  the people especially in Metro Manila will continue to suffer on illegal drugs and crime," said Eleazar.

The BuCor, under Bantag, is conducting massive vetting process of all  prisons guards and personnel of the NBP over allegations of massive corruption that resulted in the continuous operations of convicted drug lords.

Last week, the NCRPO sent a total of 551 augmentation force to the NBP to help secure the detention facility after Bantag stripped all prison guards of duty due to corruption issues.

Eleazar did not say how many BuCor personnel and inmates are on the list  they are going to submit to Bantag because of the confidentiality of the information.

“What is important is the good coordination and cooperation of all law enforcement agency to end the problem in illegal drugs as ordered by President (Rodrigo) Duterte," he said. 

The Quad-Intel Force is composed of the NCRPO, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-NCR, National Bureau of Investigation-NCR and the Joint Task Force-NCR of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Ella Dionisio/DMS
