Cancellation of PAL flights to Beijing, HK, Shanghai, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Macau extended till March 28
February 10, 2020
Philippine Airlines announced on Monday cancellation of flights between Manila Beijing, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xiamen, Quanzhou (Jinjiang) and Macau has been extended until March 28, 2020.
“We are compelled to cancel these flights until March 28 in view of the continuing travel restrictions imposed by the Philippine Government as a public health and safety measure, related to the 2019 novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease [2019 – nCoV ADR] situation,'' said PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.
The travel restrictions include banning on entry into the Philippines of any persons, except Filipino citizens and holders of Permanent Resident Visa, issued by the Philippine Government, who come directly from mainland China and its Special Administrative Regions (SARs), or who had been to China and its SARs within 14 days prior to their arrival in the Philippines. Filipinos are also banned from traveling to mainland China and its SARs.
''Our Filipino flight and cabin crew members are likewise included in this ban, and thus we are unable to operate these flights'', Villaluna said.
Once the travel ban is lifted and PAL reinstates flights to and from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, affected passengers may rebook, reroute, or refund their ticket within their ticket's validity period, with rebooking, rerouting or refund serve fees waived, Villaluna said. DMS
