Cavite cops seize P4 million worth illegal drugs in weekend operation

Cavite police seized P4 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of 16 suspects during their  intensified anti-criminality campaign from January 26-27 

According to Police Colonel Marlon Santos, officer-in-charge of the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO), said the 34 bricks of suspected dried marijuana leaves were discovered by authorities inside a vacant lot owned by Cathay Land along Aguinaldo Hi-Way in Barangay Lalaan 1st, Silang amounting to P1, 200,000.

He also said three alleged drug suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation and confiscated from them were 63 grams of shabu amounting to P2, 880,060.

Santos added two suspects under their most wanted persons list were arrested for reckless imprudence resulting to damage to property and estafa in separate serving of warrants in Kawit and Cavite City while one suspect was arrested while engaging in cockfighting in Bacoor City.

Santos said 10 other suspects were arrested in different areas in Cavite through warrantless arrest for violating the comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition, reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and physical injury; physical injury, robbery, attempted homicide and carnapping.

“The arrested suspects were apprised of their Constitutional Rights provided in the Miranda Rule and Republic Act 9745 (Anti-Torture Act of 2009) and  were brought to the stations to prepare the criminal charges for an inquest proceedings to be filed before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor,” he said.

He added pieces of evidence were brought to Cavite Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for examination. Ella Dionisio/DMS
