Cavitex gets approval for toll hike
October 14, 2019
Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. said on Monday it secured an approval from the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) to impose additional toll for the enhanced project of the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project (MCTEP) and C-5 Link Expressway.
The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) approved the initial toll for the first 2.2 kilometers of the Segment 3A-1 portion of the C-5 Link Expressway, which forms part of the MCTEP.
The initial toll will be collected upon the issuance of the TRB of a notice to start collection.
CIC and Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), joint venture partners in MCTEP, filed a joint petition for the initial toll rate of C-5 Link Expressway and Segment 3A-1 on July 4, 2019.
Motorists traversing Segment 3A-1 shall pay the following based on new toll fee matrix: Class 1 vehicles (ordinary cars) will pay P22; Class 2 vehicles (buses and small commercial trucks) will pay P44; and Class 3 vehicles (large trucks/trailers) will pay P66.
Given the provisional initial toll rate, the approval granted by the TRB is valid initially for a period of six months from the start of actual collection.
Segment 3A-1 is about 2.2 kms. and is comprised of a 2x3 lane toll road that runs from C-5 Road in Taguig westward to Merville, Paranaque. It includes the flyover crossing the South Luzon Expressway.
Segment 3A-1 will alleviate congestion and enable motorists to easily travel form Merville, Paranaque to Taguig and vice-Versa. It will decongest Sales road, as well as the East and West Service roads, effectively delivering an immediate relief from traffic congestion.
The TRB also approved the add-on toll rate for Phase 1 of the R-1 Enhancement Project on Segment 1 (R-1 Expressway) of the MCTEP.
Motorists traversing the R-1 Expressway of MCTEP (from Seaside to Zapote) shall pay the following additional amounts based on the new toll fee matrix: Class 1 vehicles (ordinary cars) will pay an additional P1; Class 2 vehicles (buses and small commercial trucks) will pay an additional P2 and Class 3 vehicles (large trucks/trailers) will pay an additional P3.
Additional toll rates shall be added on to the toll rates authorized as of 2009.
The Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project (MCTEP), now known as Cavitex, is a 14-kilometer expressway along the coast of Bacoor Bay after south of Roxas Boulevard which exits to Kawit and the cities of Las Piñas and Bacoor. DMS
