Central bank sees higher inflation for December
December 27, 2019
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ( BSP) sees December inflation increasing from the previous month, it said in a report from its economic research department on Friday.
It sees inflation settling ''within the 1.8-2.6 percent range'' from November's 1.3 percent
''Higher electricity rates and oil prices together with the impact of weather-related disturbances on selected food items are the primary sources of upward price pressures for the month,'' the central bank's economic research department said.
It added December inflation ''could be tempered by the continued easing of domestic rice prices.''
The central bank said it will remain watchful of evolving price trends and ensure the monetary policy stance remains appropriate to maintain price stability conducive to a balanced and sustainable economic growth. DMS
