Chief Justice Peralta says he tests negative for COVID-19

Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta on Friday said he tested negative of COVID-19 after traveling to The Netherlands early March and later on showing symptoms of the disease, like coughing.

In a statement, Peralta reassured officials, employees of the judiciary and the public he is continuing his work from home and closely monitoring the situation of the courts.

Peralta, along with the Philippine delegation went on an official business trip from March 1 to 7, 2020 to The Hague to attend The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) General Affairs and Policy Meeting, to witness the deposit of the instrument of accession to the HCCH Service Convention, and  receive a briefing from HCCH officials on conventions of interest to the SC.

Peralta did not get tested upon arrival as he showed no symptoms, the SC statement said.

“However, when Chief Justice Peralta showed symptoms such as persistent coughing, he then went on self-quarantine in his residence, and was advised by doctors to be tested for the COVID -19 considering also the fact that he travelled to a COVID infected country as per the guidelines of the Department of Health (DOH),” it added.
