Coast Guard officer under preventive suspension after arrest by NBI
February 20, 2019
A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officer was placed under preventive suspension after he was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents in Palawan.
“The PCG is conducting proper and thorough administrative investigation and at present, said officer is placed under preventive suspension immediately while being under custody of the National Bureau Investigation,” Capt. Armando Balilo, PCG spokesman, said on a statement issued on Wednesday.
Balilo emphasized that the Philippine Coast Guard does not tolerate illegal acts of their personnel.
“The Philippine Coast Guard values the importance of integrity, professionalism and good reputation in the performance of our duties as we support the President’s fight against graft and corruption. As civil servants and public officials, the unethical use of a public service position for personal advantage is regarded as a serious breach of duty,” he said.
“Thus, we do not tolerate the alleged extortion of Ensign Allison R Tindog, Operations Officer of Coast Guard District Palawan,” he added.
Tindog was arrested by the NBI agents in his office in Puerto Princesa, Palawan during an entrapment operation last Tuesday.
The operation against Tindog was based on the extortion complaint reported by a couple that he victimized. Robina Asido/DMS
