Comelec proclaims 12 new senators

Twelve new senators were proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum Tent in Pasay City nine days after the May 13 midterm polls.
In a nearly two hour ceremony, the Commission on Elections en banc, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) proclaimed the 12 winning senatorial candidates.
They are Senator Cynthia Villar (25,283,727); Senator Grace Poe (22,029,788);former special presidential aide Bong Go (20,657,702); Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano (19,789,019); former Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa (19,004,225); Senator Sonny Angara (18,161,862); former Senator Lito Lapid (16,965,464); Ilocos Norte Gov Imee Marcos (15,882,628); former presidential political adviser Francis Tolentino (15,510,026); Senator Koko Pimentel (14,668,665); former Senator Bong Revilla (14,624,445); and Senator Nancy Binay (14,504,936).
The opposition candidates did not land a seat, marking a first in Philippine electoral races. Poe ran as an independent.
The 12 new senators-elect will serve a six-year term starting noon of June 30. DMS
