Complaints forced Duterte to order group’s closure

Malacanang on Monday said President Rodrigo Duterte may have received complaints from the victims of Kapa-Community Ministry International which prompted him to order its closure.
In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said he has also received complaints about certain people in that group.
“There have been numerous complaints with the President… that may have prompted the president from ordering the closure,” he said.
Sharing his experience, Panelo said he talked with two or three passengers in an airplane going to General Santos who mentioned to him something about being gypped of money by Kapa.
‘Initially they thought it’s true then it suddenly gone missing,” he said.
Asked on what will be the action of the Philippine National Police- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the National Bureau of Investigation, Panelo said they know what to do.
“If the crime is being committed now, they can stop it. They can padlock the company,” he said.
Last Sunday, Duterte ordered the NBI and CIDG to close down Kapa for alleged investment scam.
Duterte reminded the public that if something is “to good to be true” it’s fraud and called Kapa, headed by Joel Apolinario, a group clearly into “syndicated estafa”.
“When it is good to be true, it is fraud. Imagine your 100,000 ( pesos) would earn 30,000 ( pesos) a month? Even Bangko Sentral (ng Pilipinas) only give three percent,” Duterte said.
Police General Oscar Albayalde, PNP head, said the alleged scam in southern Mindanao is true.
“The PNP and the NBI are working on it, and we have already planned or made case buildup and within the week there will be results,” Albayalde said.
“We got a direct order from the President himself and the SILG (Secretary of Interior and Local Government Eduardo Ano) and as I have said this week we will see police operations,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
