Cop, two others arrested in Quezon City

A policeman, his father and a female were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Tuesday. Police Colonel Rohaina Asalan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) spokesperson, said arrested were Patrolman Darryl Galendez, alias Dary Pulis, 25, his father Daniel and a certain Estella Alfonso, 36,.

Asalan said the police operatives conducted the buy-bust operation at No. 203 Mc. Arthur St. Area 1, Brgy. Pasong Tamo around 10:30 am.

“Talipapa Police Station under Police Lt. Col. Alex Alberto received information about the involvement of the police officer and his father in illegal drug peddling activities and were subjected to close monitoring and validation,” she said.

Asalan said another suspect was able to escape from authorities during the operation.

“A police poseur buyer bought P 200.00 worth of shabu from the suspects that led to their arrest. However, a certain alias Balawis escaped during the operation and is now subject of manhunt,” she said.

She said operatives seized seven sachets of shabu, an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol loaded with seven live ammunition, four cellular phones and the buy-bust money from the suspects.

Asalan said “the suspects will be charged with violation RA 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) while additional charge for violation of RA 10591 for illegal possession of firearms in relation to the existing Omnibus Election Code will be filed against the police officer.”

According to her, Galendez entered the police service in 2017 and is assigned at the Police Community Precinct 2 of Malabon City Police Station.”

“The QCPD will coordinate with the unit assignment of the rookie cop to inform his arrest as well as the filing of administrative case against him,” Asalan said.

She said QCPD director, Police Brigadier General Joselito Esquivel Jr., lauded the station commander and his men for the accomplishment.

“He (Esquivel) said this should serve as a stern warning to all uniformed and even non-uniformed personnel of the PNP that we are very serious in our internal cleansing program,” said Asalan. Robina Asido/DMS
