A special court in Taguig City on Tuesday found three members of the Maute terrorist group guilty of committing terrorism and rebellion.
In separate decisions, the Taguig City Regional Trial Court, Branch 70, found accused Nur Supian, Araji Samindih and Umad Harun guilty of terrorism and rebellion.
In separate decisions, Acting Presiding Judge Felix Reyes convicted Supian, trainer of Maute recruits in Sulu, of terrorism and sentenced him to 40 years of imprisonment.
Samindih and Harun were found guilty of rebellion and each were sentenced to imprisonment of from 8 years and 1 day to 14 years 8 months and 1 day.
In the first case, the trial court said prosecutors were able to prove Supian was responsible for putting up Camp Javal Nur or Tiger Base in Brgy. Pang, Kalingalang Caluang, Sulu where local armed men underwent military training.
In the second case, the court said Samindih and Harun were members of Maute who took part in their clearing operations at the height of the Marawi siege, citing eyewitnesses who identified the two. DMS
