Court of Appeals affirms dismissal of Junjun Binay over science high school
January 6, 2020
The Court of Appeals has sustained dismissal from service of former Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr, it said in a December 20 decision which was only released Monday.
The appellate court barred him perpetually from holding public office over allegation of irregularities in building the P1.3 billion Makati City Science High School Building.
In a 12-page resolution, the court's former Eighth Division upheld the 2017 decision of the Office of the Ombudsman finding Binay guilty of serious dishonesty, grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service and dismissed him from service.
Binay denied allegation of anomalies in the bidding for Phase 6 of the construction of the MSHS building in favor of Hilmarc Construction. He said he acted in good faith. DMS
