COVID-19 deaths now five as 3 more die

Three Filipinos, including a husband and wife from Rizal, with the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) died, the Department of Health (DOH) announced late Thursday night.
In a statement, the DOH said the three patients died between March 11 and March 12, raising the total fatalities to five.
"The DOH reports three new deaths today among the confirmed cases of the COVID-19 in the country... This brings the total number of mortalities in the country to five," said the DOH.
A 59-year-old woman suddenly experienced difficulty of breathing and was intubated on late evening March 11.
She died from acute respiratory distress syndrome due to severe pneumonia, secondary to COVID-19. The DOH said chest x-rays showed progressive pneumonia the patient, who is a diabetic.
Her husband, a 62-year-old, died at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), in the morning of March 12 due to acute respiratory distress syndrome from severe pneumonia, secondary to COVID-19.
The man, a diabetic and hypertensive, developed acute kidney injury, the DOH said.
The third death, a 88-year-old woman from Pasig, was admitted on March 6 at the Philippine Heart Center, after experiencing symptoms on February 28.
She was confirmed with COVID-19 on March 11 and expired Thursday afternoon due to acute respiratory failure. She was reported to have existing hypertension. DMS
