Damage to schools from Monday quake top P300 million: NDRRMC

The National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has recorded more than P300 million worth of damage to school facilities due to the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that hit Zambales province last Monday.
NDRRMC reported Thursday damage to schools in Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and NCR reached to a total of P305,920,000.
In Central Luzon, damage to schools were estimated at P222,620,000, followed by Calabarzon with P52,120,000, NCR with P 16,500,000 and in Northern Luzon with a total of P14,680,000.
Deaths still stand at 16, with 86 injured and 14 missing in Central Luzon.
The number of persons affected by the quake within 10 municipalities in Region III has ballooned to a total of 1,203 families or 4,991 individuals.
Around 965 families or 3,699 persons among the affected population were displaced and being looked after a total of seven evacuation centers.
The number of damaged houses in the provinces of Bataan and Pampanga rose to a total of 542, with 142 destroyed and 400 partially damaged.
The NDRRMC said the number of damaged structures and building within Central Luzon and NCR also reached to 139. Robina Asido/DMS
