Deaths from ”Tisoy” now 18, damage may reach a billion pesos

The death toll from Typhoon ''Tisoy'' increased to 18, as three more fatalities were recorded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in Northern Samar Thursday morning.
OCD Eastern Visayas identified the fatalities as Jodel Gaon 16, Deven Gaon, 10 and Angelo Gaon, 4. They perished due to landslide in Buenasuerte, Victoria, Northern Samar.
The number of injured victims also raised to 34, with 16 from Mimaropa , three in Bicol and 15 in Eastern Visayas.
Damage to agriculture and infrastructure from Typhoon ''Tisoy'' may hit a billion pesos.
On Thursday, the Office of Civil Defense Mimaropa recorded more than half a million pesos worth of agriculture and infrastructures were damaged.
Based on its initial assessment, the cost of damage to infrastructure has reached to a total of P167,105,000.
The infrastructure that were damaged include roads, schools, government facilities, medical facilities, power lines, water facilities, flood control and irrigation facilities.
The NDRRMC said a total of 31,666 houses were damaged because of ''Tisoy'', of which 2.604 were destroyed while 29,062 were partially damaged.
According to OCD Mimaropa, the initial assessment of damage to agriculture is P442,582,069.40.
The OCD in Bicol Region also recorded a total of P667,710,502.02 in damage to agriculture.
The NDRRMC said a total of 95,385 families or 413,833 persons affected by the typhoon in Central Luzon, Bicol, Central Visayas, Calabarzon and Mimaropa, of which 83, 848 families or 364,003 persons are in a total of 2,744 evacuation centers.
The province of Oriental Mindoro and the municipality of Boac in Marinduque and Lapinig in Northern Samar were placed under state of calamity on Wednesday.
The city of Naga, Camarines Sur and provinces of Sorsogon and Albay all in Bicol were also placed under state of calamity, according to the regional OCD. Robina Asido/DMS
