DENR official appeals to residents near Tagyatay to save endangered species
January 13, 2020
Environment Undersecretary Benny Antiporda pleaded that residents near Tagaytay rescue and take care of endangered species.
Antiporda said endangered species, such as the different species of hornbill found in the highlands, might have flown in the mainland when the Taal Volcano began spewing ash on Sunday.
"Those (hornbills) have big beaks so some people might get scared of capturing them. If they can't do it, don't hurt it or disturb it. If they can capture them, turn them over to the nearest DENR ( Department of Environment and Natural Resources) offices or take care of it for the meantime (in evacuation centers)," said Antiporda.
