November 22, 2018

The Department of Interior and Local and Government (DILG) and the management of ABS-CBN network had a "fruitful" discussion on Wednesday in resolving the issue related to the network's television series "FPJ's Ang Probinsiyano".

"It was a fruitful dialogue wherein both parties were thankful for the chance to express their views directly to each other," said in a joint statement issued Thursday,

"The PNP stated the importance of the support and respect of the people to its organization while recognizing ABS-CBN’s freedom to create and convey the story of the program," it added.

The television network also assured the authorities the program will continue to portray "Cardo Dalisay" as a police officer with integrity and dedication to serve and protect the people.

The DILG, together with the Philippine National Police said they will continue to support the program as "it continues to inspire Filipinos with the valuable lesson that in the end, good will always triumph over evil."

Last November 16, PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde asked for "respect" from the TV show's management team after the organization is being showed as villains in the fictional show.

"What we want is social responsibility. We understand their views but we hope they will also understand our views and also other people's views also," he said.

He assured the public they will not ask the management to end the TV show and the PNP is even open for the production crew to shoot scenes inside Camp Crame.

"Ang Probinsyano" is a local television series narrating the life of a police officer named Ricardo de Leon Dalisay who fights bad cops and criminals. Ella Dionisio/DMS
