DILG asks Filipinos to help communist rebels surrender
July 13, 2019
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) urged the public to help the government's anti-insurgency campaign by urging
communist rebels to surrender.
“Help us convince the communist rebels that armed conflict is not the solution to the country’s problems,” Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano said in a statement Saturday.
Ano said the issues of communist rebels on poverty, injustice and corruption are being addressed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
“This government under President Duterte has set these issues as top priorities to be addressed through good governance and focused efforts to improve the plight of the people,” he said.
Records show more than 8,300 rebels have surrendered as of Dec.
2018.
A total of 2,129 former rebels have received benefits and assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). DMS
