DILG chief to ask 10 local executives for their absence when “Rolly” hit

November 2, 2020

Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano said on Monday that ten local chief executives would be asked to explain for their failure to be present in their respective localities when Super Typhoon "Rolly" struck the country.

In a televised meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte, Ano did not mention the names of the 10 local officials.

He said there were over 1,000 local government units that were strongly hit by the typhoon.

"Of all the places I've mentioned, 10 are unaccounted for, so 99 percent were in their respective places to supervise," he said.

"I will ask them to explain," Ano added.

He reported that before ''Rolly'' whipped parts of Luzon and other areas in the Visayas, the LGUs were able to convene their respective Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers and medical teams, among others.

He said the LGUs also managed to conduct pre-emptive evacuation.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that 12 regions were exposed to Rolly, affecting over 372,000 families. Celerina Monte/DMS
