DILG sees no coup against Duterte
July 5, 2019
The Department of Interior and Local Government ( DILG) on Friday said they have not monitored any coup plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.
"We have not monitored anything," DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said in a press briefing.
When asked what could be the reason for Duterte to raise the matter, Malaya instead replied: "The question should (be) properly addressed to Secretary (Salvador) Panelo, spokesperson of the president."
The military and police dismissed the remarks of Duterte asking government forces not to stage a coup during his term.
Police General Oscar Albayalde, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), assured the public they are not planning any coup.
"The AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) and PNP (Philippine National Police) are not planning anything," Albayalde said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
