DOF to review sectors receiving incentives, like POGO

The Department of Finance (DOF) on Thursday said they will review sectors which receive incentives, including Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO).
In a Senate hearing on tax reform packages, DOF Undersecretary Karl Kendrick Chua said POGOs pay lower taxes compared to the regular corporate tax rate.
"Some POGOs have incentive of five percent tax while our regular (corporate) tax is 30 percent," Chua said.
"What we will do is determine the sector that should be given incentives," he added.
Aside from POGOs, the finance department will also look on the incentives being misused by non-beneficiaries.
"Those who shouldn't avail (of the incentives) pretends to be beneficiaries," Chua explained citing senior citizen discount as an example.
