DOH announces high number of deaths, recoveries from COVID-19

High number of deaths. recoveries and cases from the coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday.
One hundred sixty two deaths were announced to bring the total to 1,534 while recoveries surged to 2,009 to bring the aggregate to 16,046. Total active cases, net of deaths and recoveries reached 38, 679.
DOH said 92.2 percent of these cases were mild, 7.1 percent asymptomatic, 0.3 percent critical and 0.4 percent severe.
There were 2,124 new cases to raise the tally to 56,259. Fresh cases, which were released in the last three days, reached 1,690 while late cases amounted to 434.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the delay in announcing the results is due to data clarification issues with local government units. The daily case bulletin was supposed to be announced on Sunday, but no briefing was done by the DOH.
Vergeire clarified that ''51 or 31 percent ( of the deaths) happened in July.'' DMS
