DOH may exempt cyclists from mandatory wearing of face shields

The Department of Health (DOH) may exempt cyclists from mandatory wearing of face shields.
This was mentioned by Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in a virtual press briefing on Saturday.
"This is a form of exercise and when you do your exercises, you require oxygen. So when the guidelines on wearing face mask was released, we said that if we cannot really do it you are allowed not to do so, as long as you are alone in your bicycle and you are not in a crowded place," he said.
"So the wearing of face shield, when you do your biking we will talk about that, but we see that we can consider this as long as they are alone while biking. And when they arrive in crowded areas they have to wear it," he added.
Just last Tuesday, Malacanang announced the mandatory wearing of full face shield by persons when they are outside residence.
It can be recalled that wearing of face shield was previously required only when entering malls and closed areas. Robina Asido/DMS
