Dormitorio’s family files hazing, torture, murder raps vs PMA cadets

BAGUIO CITY  -- The family of Fourth Class Cadet Darwin Dormitorio filed hazing, torture and murder raps versus seven Philippine Military Academy (PMA) cadets Tuesday afternoon at the Baguio City Prosecutors' office.

First Class Cadet Axl Rey Sanupao, 2nd Class Cadet Christian Zacarias, and 3rd Class Cadets Rey David John Volante, Julius Carlo Tadena, John Vincent Manalo, Felix Lumbag Jr. and Shalimar Imperial were charged with violating the Anti-Hazing Law, Anti-Torture Law and murder by the Dormitorio family represented by their eldest Dexter before the Baguio Justice Hall closed at  apm.

The Dormitorios also accused Senior Tactical Officer Major Rex Bolo and Echo Company Tactical Officer Captain Jeffrey Batistiana, who were relieved earlier by the PMA, as accomplices in the Anti-Hazing Law violation.

Assisting physician Major Maria Ofelia Beloy and attending physician Captain Florence Apple Apostol, who certified Dormitorio died of cardiac arrest secondary to internal hemorrhage and PMA hospital Commander Col. Cesar Candelaria were also charged with dereliction of duty under Article 208 of the Revised Penal Code.

Dormitorio, 20, died on September 18 due to alleged hazing.

“Somehow, we are relieved because cases have been filed already,” Dexter Dormitorio remarked after signing the complaint and swearing in before Assistant City Prosecutor Bryan Sagsago. "But the pain crept back," he added.

Jose Adrian Bonifacio, who will also act as private prosecutor in coordination with state prosecutors said: “The ball is now in the hands of the state prosecutors on what case will be finally filed before the court.”

At least 16 PMA cadets will stand as witnesses in the case. DMS
