February 20, 2020
Drug lords at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) may be behind the death of the suspended Bureau of Correction (BuCor) legal service chief Fredric Anthony Santos, Senator Ronald Dela Rosa said on Thursday.
"Based on my experience, those who ordered to kill our men there in BuCor, they are the drug lords who are detained there (at the New Bilibid Prison)... They still have a lot of money and men outside to order the killing," he said.
"They are threatening judges and fiscals. There are lawyers who were killed because they (drug lord) do not get what they want. They have the money, they can buy your life anytime," he added.
Because of the incident, Dela Rosa stressed the need to pass the death penalty bill.
"That is why, I have to go back to my death penalty bill. It's just so unfortunate that the death penalty bill. I follow-up that at the concerned committee but apparently no actions are being done," he said.
