October 25, 2019
The acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday said he will conduct surprise drug testing during his visits to different stations in Metro Manila.
In a press briefing, Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas said he conducted drug testing at the Southern Police District and Manila Police District.
Last October 21, the MPD drug test showed a police trainee positive for marijuanae.
“I conducted a dialogue for the field training programs. Out of 294, one turned out positive on use of marijuana,” Sinas said.
The trainee, who is in his third month of police training, will now undergo termination process.
Sinas warned his men to stop or don’t try using illegal drugs.
“My style (is) every time I conduct inspection, I will ask who are the duty (personnel) to talk to them and conduct drug test… if one (police officer) did not show up, then it will be considered as AWOL ( absent without leave),” he said.
“They don’t know when will I make a visit,” he added.
Sinas said during the drug test, the personnel will be accompanied by his officers to prevent them from manipulating the result. Ella Dionisio/DMS
