Duterte asks new chief justice to ensure SC’s fairness, truthfulness

President Rodrigo Duterte has urged new Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta to ensure that the Supreme Court would be fair to everyone.
Duterte made the call when he administered the oath taking of the new chief magistrate in a ceremony in Malacañang on Thursday.
"In the oath taking of CJ Peralta this afternoon in Malacanang, PRRD ( President Rodrigo Roa Duterte) told him that all he asks is that the SC under his watch should be characterised with fairness and truth," Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a text message to reporters.
"That every citizen be treated equal before the law regardless of the status in life," he added.
Peralta succeeded Lucas Bersamin, who retired on October 18.
He will serve as the chief magistrate until March 27, 2022. Celerina Monte/DMS
