Duterte, Bong Go visits INC’s Manalo
December 19, 2018
Did President Rodrigo Duterte seek support from Iglesia Ni Cristo for the senatorial bid of his former aide Christopher "Bong" Go in the 2019 elections?
INC, which has been claiming millions of members, is known for its bloc-voting and is always being courted for its support by politicians who have been running in the elections.
Malacañang photos released on Wednesday showed Duterte, along with Go, visited INC leader Eduardo Manalo at the INC Central Office in Quezon City on December 14.
Asked why Duterte visited Manalo, Go, in a text message to reporters, said he just had a belated birthday greeting to the religious sect leader.
Internet search showed that Manalo turned 63 on October 31.
Last February, Duterte named Manalo as his Special Envoy for Overseas Filipino Concerns. Celerina Monte/DMS
