Duterte lands in Marawi, thanks troops fighting Maute-Abu Sayyaf

MARAWI CITY — Finally, President Rodrigo Duterte made it to this city to talk to the troops battling the Maute-Abu Sayyaf Group. He arrived on Thursday and spent at least four hours inside Camp Ranao where he talk to the troops. “We saw that the President tried several times to come here and now we are thankful to him. The weather was cooperative and the military and police are happy,” said Lt. Col. Jo-Ar Herrera, spokesman for the Joint Task Force Marawi. “This shows he is very firm and dedicated to support us in our operation here in Martawi City,” said Herrera in a separate interview over ANC. The military also presented to Duterte weapons recovered from the Maute-Abu Sayyaf group since May 23. DMS
