Duterte promotes nine senior PNP officials, led by intel head

President Rodrigo Duterte promoted nine senior police officials to higher rank in the latest round of promotion of third level Police Commissioned Officers, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a statement Friday, PNP said its top intelligence officer, Police Brigadier General Timoteo Pacleb was promoted to police major general.
PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Bernard Banac was promoted to the rank of Police Brigadier General, along with Police Colonel Walter Castillejos, executive officer of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Northern Luzon.
Promoted to Police Colonel were Police Lieutenant Colonels Hermogenes Cabe, Benliner Capili,Edilberto Leonardo, Judy Lopez, Fernando Ortega, and Brimar Rodica.
PNP said Duterte approved the promotion of the nine senior PNP officials upon the endorsement of the Civil Service Commission, based on the recommendation of DILG Secretary and National Police Commission chairman Eduardo Año, and the PNP Senior Officers’ Placement and Promotion Board.
Pacleb is a member of the PMA “Sinagtala” Class of 1986 and was designated PNP Director for Intelligence on May 9, 2019, after serving as PNP Regional Director for Northern Mindanao.
Banac, a member of the PMA “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class 1992 was designated as PNP spokesperson and chief of the PNP Public Information Office on January 22, 2019. Ella Dionisio/DMS
