April 24, 2020
President Rodrigo Duterte has raised the reward to P50 million for any Filipino who can discover a vaccine against coronavirus disease.
In a meeting on Thursday in Malacanang with the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases and was aired on Friday morning, Duterte said the bounty could even increase to P100 million if he would be happy with the result.
But in the meantime, he said, "I'm raising the bounty to P50 million...because it's a colleagial thing."
"COVID equals vaccine, period," he said.
Duterte earlier offered a P10-million reward for any Filipino who could come up with a vaccine against the virus.
He has said the moment there is a vaccine against COVID-19, he would immediately lift the enhanced community quarantine in high-risk areas, including Metro Manila. Celerina Monte/DMS
