Duterte says he ordered cops to kill son if caught involved in drugs
September 20, 2017
President Rodrigo Duterte said on Wednesday he ordered police to kill his son, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, if he would be caught involved in illegal drugs.
In a speech during an event of the Civil Service Commission in Malacanang, Duterte said he did not want other people to say he was protecting a member of the family.
"That's why I told Pulong (Paolo), my order is to kill you if your are caught...and I will protect the police who will kill you. That's true," he said.
The younger Duterte was allegedly involved in the entry of P6.4-billion worth of shabu from China last May. Paolo, however, denied the allegation.
Duterte has declared an all-out war against illegal drugs. Thousands of drugs suspects have been killed.
International and local human rights groups have been criticizing the extrajudicial killings in the country. Celerina Monte/DMS
