Duterte says tirades of foreign critics done on purpose

October 19, 2017

President Rodrigo Duterte admitted his tirades against some foreign critics on his war on drugs were done on purpose.

In a speech on Wednesday night in the seventh anniversary of a television show for overseas Filipino workers in Pasay City, Duterte said foreign critics of his war on drugs were only looking into the number of those killed in the campaign against narcotics.

"And what is really worse in that they only count the victims who are killed, not even sure of whether it is true or not because nowadays, when you lie flat on the pavement, on the cement, they would just assume that you are a victim of extrajudicial killing," he said.

" I really do it on purpose. I'm being rude to them. You know why? When you do that, it is always a derogation of the sovereignty of my country," Duterte added.

He said the foreign critics forgot that there were millions of Filipinos who were already crazy and of no use to the Philippine society because of their addiction to illegal drugs.

"You know when you look at the social problem, the EU (European Union), I think you...that you are the educated race of this planet. You pretend to be...have the progressive laws and everything. When you look at a problem, look at the social aspect of the problem," he added.

Some international and local groups have been criticizing Duterte's bloody war on drugs.

Thousands of suspected drug addicts have been killed allegedly by the police who were involved in the anti-drug operations.

The government said it is not allowing extrajudicial killings.

In the same speech, Duterte said the US Central Intelligence Agency wanted him out of the government.

"I believe so but not really killing but they could have --- they would have prepared another one. But one thing is very sure is they do not like me and I do not like them also," he said.
